This self-catering apartment at Toplodge is modern, spacious and can comfortably accommodate four people. It is centrally heated, fully equipped and furnished to a high standard throughout with a large open-plan area with entertainment facilities. The property also benefits from a fully equipped open-plan kitchen with breakfast bar, a large twin bedroom, a fully tiled bathroom and a good sized hallway.
The one bedroom apartment is located on the ground floor, within a complex in a fantastic location with great facilities. These include a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, fitness centre, shuttle bus to and from gondola for ski seasons, a BBQ area and a communal garden.
The building was completed mid 2007 and is located on Stefan Karadja St, being only a 10 to 12 minute walk to the ski gondola and an 8 to 10 minute walk to the old town, bars and restaurants.
Located at the foot of the Pirin Mountains, Bansko is a traditional Bulgarian town that has recently developed into a superb Ski centre. This rapidly expanding resort has a mixture of old-world charm, some fantastic and breath-taking views, making it an excellent choice for a Ski Holiday in Bulgaria. A superb ski school will ensure that guests are well looked after if they decide to book for a tuition. Offering Alpine quality at Bulgarian prices, it is little wonder that Bansko in Bulgaria has become a firm favourite.
Skiers of all abilities are well catered for as Bansko has over 65 kilometres of marked ski and off-piste runs. These are easily accessed by the impressive gondola lift that takes visitors up to the mid-mountain area at 1,725m. From there, a small network of lifts take the guests on to the highest point at 2,560m. At present, Bansko has a vertical drop of 1,100m or 1,600m if it includes the long, gentle coast-and-pole back to town. The final 7km is flood-lit and covered by snow-cannons.
Bansko is also a great summer destination with spectacular scenery, beautiful views, clear mountain air and a pleasant mild climate. The pirin range is the sunniest mountain area in Bulgaria and temperatures can reach the low to mid thirties. Summer activities in and around Bansko include mountaineering, horse-riding, walking, trekking, cycling, ice skating, hiking, mountain biking, white-water rafting, alpine climbing, paragliding, golf and fishing.
Every August Bansko plays host to the International Summer Jazz festival held in the main square. Each year sees an increasing number of musicians from around the world taking part in the festivities that include concerts, jam-sessions, jazz cafes and seminars alongside various exhibitions and tourist events.
The town centre is a listed World Heritage site and has the atmosphere of an ancient Bulgarian town from the 10th century and it is easy to see why with its quaint cobbled streets, where guests can still hear the local Bansko dialect being used and the old clock tower where the bell has been measuring the hours for over 150 years. Après-ski is centred around the local “Mehanas”, friendly taverna type restaurants serving traditional Bulgarian cuisine and drinks, often with roaring log fires and live entertainment.
Bansko is very much a mountain resort with a long, mild winter and short, hot summer. It nestles between the Pirin, Rila and Rhodope mountains and is at the foot of Pirin National Park. The park has 1,100 varieties of flora, 102 kinds of birds and 42 species of mammals. The town boasts a wealth of culture and history and is famous for its food specialties, drinks and live music offered in over 300 pubs, tavernas and restaurants.
There are also over 120 cultural monuments as well as museums, monasteries and galleries. Places to visit in and around Bansko include the Rila and Rozhen monasteries, the amphitheatre at Plovdiv, the Bear park, the medieval villages of Leshten, Kovatchevistsa and Ognianovo, the mineral baths and swimming at Banya and Dobrinishte and the Yagodinska Cave. Also, many four and five star hotels in Bansko have their own spa-wellness establishments for body, beauty and health care.
Bansko is an all-year round destination and is a beautiful mix of old and new.
