Description
Our accommodation boasts a balcony which is overlooked by dense pine forest and offers a private, romantic atmosphere. Dinner can be served in the dining or balcony areas. The bedrooms are accessed via a small staircase in the living room which creates a split-level effect. One of the bedrooms has a private toilet. The kitchen and main bathroom are separate. The location is a paradise for hiking, mountain biking, jogging, hang gliding,skiing and other outdoor pursuits. Bad Herrenalb is described as an elegant health resort. The healing thermal waters of the relaxing spa is a must for visitors to the area and is within 5 minutes walk from our apartment. The town centre, town parks, kurhaus and numerous restaurants are within 5-10 minutes walk.

Its a great place for the outdoor!! Marvellous air and water in the area. Forest walks throughout the region. One can walk or cycle on any forest walks and return to the town by local tram - its very peaceful! The town swimming pool is a great day out if the weather is good!! The spa is top class for it's waters and relaxation and why not treat yourself to a spa treatment or saunas.

* Our apartment is located in the picturesque thermal spa town of Bad Herrenalb nestled in a beautiful valley where you can begin your exploration of the breath-taking Black Forest region. Baden-Baden is 20 minutes away and is renowned for its wealth, spas, casino, horse racing and overall splendour. The cities of Karlsruhe (30 minutes) and Stuttgart (60 minutes) are a must for shoppers. Heidelburg with its romantic medival castle is an hour away. Similarly, Strasbourg and the Alsace-Lorraine region are an hour away. 'Europa Park' in Rust (60 minutes),a fun theme park for everybody of all age groups offers hours of fun and excitement and is definitely worth a visit. Switzerland is two hours away. The beautiful and breath-taking Lake Constance can be reached by car in 2 hours and is touched by Germany, Switzerland and Austria. (For golf enthusiasts there is a nine hole golf course in our own Bad Herrenalb)

Apartment in Bad Herrenalb
We spent three weeks in this apartment in July 2010 and had a wonderful time. The apartment was clean, tidy and spacious and met all our needs. For what we paid, we got very good value for money - in the past, I have paid a lot more for a lot less.
The town of Bad Herrenalb can only be described as picture postcard. It was extremely clean and well kept. There is a lovely park nearby where my children loved to play table tennis. The swimming pool was fantastic and we spent many hours there! There were plenty of restaurants in the town and we were welcomed warmly at all of them. Our favourite was Andi`s Spatzlestube. There are the most beautiful walks on your doorstep.
We were never bored during our stay - we hired bikes, swam, walked and visited many places - Europa Park, Baden-Baden, Heidelburg and Switzerland to name a few. At the end of the day, it was lovely to return to a comfortable apartment and enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony overlooking the Black Forest.
If you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful break, I can recommend this apartment.
Ideal apartmnent in lovely setting
The apartment was just right for our needs, it was clean, comfortable and in a lovely peaceful location but within walking distance of the village. We have an 11 and 13 year old who shared the bed in 2nd bedroom - it was huge - 2 large singles put together and they were more than happy to share, though should you need it there was a fold up bed as well. The village of Bad Herrenalb was set in a beautiful location, the drive to it through the forest was gorgeous. The village has a couple of very pretty parks to wander through, shops, restaurants and cafes - we treated ourselves to coffee and the most amazing cakes in Cafe Konig. There are many beautiful and interesting places to visit within about an hours drive away and it's just over a couple of hours to Lake Constance and Switzerland.
The family holiday
It took us sometime until we found our way to the flat. Detailed directions are required plus detailed map. When we arrived we found that the property was clean and tidy. There was some food in the fridge and this was good as we were hungry. The views are spectacular from the balcony and can seat down all day without feeling bored.
The L564 road is easier to take rather than the Baden-Baden (i.e. B500) as the latter is full of road sharp curves but it is nicer regarding the forest views.
The town itself is very nice and there is a supermarket nearby. However, the visitor needs to know the basics of German language as the local residents do not/ do not like to communicate in English.
I would advise anyone who is travelling from the UK to go through Belgium, Luxemburg and finally Germany as there is a lot of toll bridges on French motorways and these tolls did cost us around 50 Euros.

Very good location, comfortable, everything available: iron board, iron, kitchen supplied etc. Nice, clean and friendly.

We stayed in there 22th to 26th of June. It was a fantastic holiday.
As for the apartment itself, it is luxury one at the very top of 8-apartment block. We enjoyed a lot by gorgeous views from a spacious roof balcony; the sunsets and sunrises are lovely in this mountainous valley; living room meets the high standards; bedrooms are comfortable; the kitchen and the sanitary are properly equipped, so that we had all we needed.
Bad Herrenalb is so nice place itself that you may wish to stay there for a whole week, just enjoying walking on its mountain paths or relaxing in thermal spa. On the other hand, it is no distance from famous attractions such as Baden-Baden with its relaxing thermal spas and Roman-Irish baths or Strasbourg with is magnificent Cathedral. You can also decide to travel through small mountainous villages and monasteries sprinkled around Bad Herrenalb.
For sure we would like to come back to there again.
lovely appartment with a brilliant view
It is indeed one of the best holiday homes we stayed. The owner is really easy going, straight forward and do not have any strange house-tules. The appartment as you can see from photos is a duplex, very clean and has everything you may need. It has 2 bedrooms with an en-suite, 5 persons can stay there comfortably. The view from the balcony is awesome. We really enjoyed our stay. The weather was good too. The city is really beautiful and very picturasque.Again thanks to the owners, he arranged travel suggestions with maps and brochures with useful informations, notes on local restaurants and some DVDs as well. There is a washing machine downstairs which you can use for 2 euros. Only thing there was no babycot for our little one so we took it with us, not a big problem. The kitchen is fully equipped. We cooked full course meal there and had a lovely candle-light dinner. It was really a memorable stay. Loved this place, will visit again and recommend to all my friends.
