Located on the South East Coast, Sotira is an endearing traditional Cypriot village where old meets new; ancient churches and lazy coffee houses sit beside interesting shops and individual boutiques. There are a number of bars and and places to eat ranging from charming local tavernas to internationally renowned restaurants.
The clear blue waters of the Mediterranean are only 5 minutes away, with many fantastic beaches and rugged coves dotted along the coast.
A quiet and peaceful village setting yet only 10 minutes to the bustling resorts of Ayia Napa and Protaras.
The villa is fully equipped to ensure a hassle and stress free holiday, from travel cots and highchairs for little ones, to cooler boxes and beach towels for days out.
Sotira is a great location and the perfect base to explore the island. Head South to the nearest blue Flag beach of Ayia Thekla. For a great family day out the famous Ayia Napa water park is a few minutes further. All along the coast lie many splendid beaches such as Konnas Bay, Macronissos, or the famous Nissi beach for the young and the hip.
Those wanting some lively nightlife should head into Ayia Napa or Protaras, where there are plenty of bars, restaurants and nightclubs to keep you entertained.
Parillimini is the largest community in the district, and is named after the seasonal lake which forms between here and Sotira. Parillimini today combines the advantages of a traditional village with the amenities of a contemporary town. There are a number of unspoiled tavernas known for their delicious local cuisine.
Modern shops such as Benetton, Gucci, DKNY, Calvin Klein, Converse and M&S sit aside individual boutiques, excellent homewares and old stores; traditional coffee shops mix it with subtle, cool lounge bars, and the main thoroughfares with traffic lights are crossed by narrow streets towered over by old, Venetian-style houses.
Take all this and add beautifully constructed modern churches overlooking the crumbling architecture of the older places of worship, standing proudly beside their mellowed stone and fading mosaics. While you savour this rich mixture of ancient and modern, enjoy your coffee in a modern café while listening to the afternoon church service and the harmony of the church bells as they ring out across the old square.
Continue on past Paralimini and you are soon on the East coast where an abundance of beaches and coves await you, from Firemans Cove to Penera with calm waters that are ideal for toddlers. For days out there are daily boat trips from the neighbouring Paralimini fishing shelter.
A National Forest Park is at the south-eastern end of the island. This unique area has its natural beauty but also offers a wide range of interests such as cycling, riding, climbing, air sports, and hiking. There are about 300 plant species in the area. Also observed in the area are foxes, hares and various species of bats, reptiles and butterflies. To date, 9 trails have been constructed in Cavo Greco - Paralimni area.
For most of the visitors it is a thrilling experience to climb to the top, where you can enjoy the magnificent views or even watch a spectacular sunset.
The surrounding Red Soil villages of Avgorou, Liopetri, Vyrasoulles, Frenaros and Dherynia are all full of history, take the open top Red Bus tour which will give you an insight into the history of the Famagusta region, or spend a day on the tour to Famagusta City to explore inside the Venetian Walls.
Further afield, the capital Nicosia is about an hours drive away, or for some fresh cool mountain air, head for the Troodos mountains.
A bus service has recently started, which can take you to Ayia Napa, Protaras, Paralimin and many of the surrounding villages and as far afield as Larnaca.

Ploumin Taverna is frequented by locals and tourists alike. Here you can enjoy the most genuine of Cypriot homemade dishes, cooked in a most traditional way and served in a most enchanting atmosphere reminiscent of days gone by. Additionally there are over 80 local wines to choose from. Folkloric nights with live music and dancing, and local artist exhibitions are scheduled regularly and only add to the unique appeal of this truly wonderful place. If Al-a-carte is your thing, then head to internationally renowned Vasiliskos - an award winning restaurant where pleasant gastronomic surprises await. In contrast to the perception most people have about Greek cuisine, you will discover this it is not just 'moussaka', 'kebabs' and 'village salad'. Instead you will discover it is made up of a large variation of dishes that will satisfy all gastronomic demands, be it vegetarian or meat eating. To catch live Premiership football with a cold beer and excellent home cooked food, then Old Symos is the place for you. A family run local taverna it also has a full extensive menu if you prefer something more substantial, again it gets quite busy so always ring ahead to reserve a table. Sotira is a year round destination as it is a working village; there are always plenty of people out and about. Come in the winter time and you can enjoy milder temperatures with lots of sun. For the energetic there are many challenging trekking paths, deep sea fishing is easily arranged, and from January to March you can even head to the Troodos mountains for some alpine skiing.

Ideal Family Villa and Location
Have just come back from a fantastic weeks holiday with my four teenage children. The villa and location was perfect for all the different age groups. The villa had its own pool plus TV, playstation and ipod docking station which was a great bonus. The older kids were able to go out in Aya Napa in the evenings as it was close enough for a taxi ride home or we could take a five minute walk into the village and eat at one of the local Tavarnas and enjoy a drink without the worry of driving. There were many different sandy beaches and the kids loved all the water sports, each day was very different. I would thoroughly recommend this villa if it is a family holiday you want that allows you the security and peace from all the crowds.
Great Holiday!
Thank you we had a great holiday, Cyprus is a beautiful country and we have fallen in love with it!
The villa at Sotira Limini was lovely and spacious accommodation, and the managers Barney and Sheila were very helpful.
The location and village is perfect. We ate at one of the taverns and it was fantastic food and great value for money, we also used the takeaway and had some very nice kebabs! There are some lovely shops, bakeries and supermarkets within easy walking distance. There was a market in the village square while we were there selling typical Cyprus delicacies …. yummy
We collected a car at the airport having booked it before we arrived, and we travelled around the south of the island. It was very easy to drive around and found beautiful beaches and places of interest, a week was nowhere near long enough! My children visited the water park in Ayia Napa and sunbathed on the lovely beach there, having a great time.
Our favourite beaches were golden bay just minutes away from Ayia Thekla, and fig tree bay at Protaras., my granddaughter paddled with the fish in the clear blue sea…idyllic!
Thank you for helping us enjoy a lovely family holiday in a perfect holiday resort and we would love to return sometime soon!
The Halls on Holiday
We had a lovely time in Sotira, The village is only a short walk away and has everything you need from a bakery to banks. The locals are helpful and friendly and there are plenty of places to eat out and at reasonable prices too. The local supermarkets are well stocked and have most things you need, but for a bigger shop there are plenty of supermarkets in Paralimini and the larger resorts.
The villa has everything you need and more it is comfortable, modern and clean (It was really useful to have towels provided for the beach) The pool was lovely and a great way to cool down, we could n’t get our teenage daughter and friend out of it.
The only problem I had was the oven I found it difficult to control and the instruction booklet was missing. The caretakers are really helpful and have lots of useful, local information.
We loved the outside eating area, and enjoyed many a leisurely breakfast, and in the evenings of course the BBQ.
Because of the villas location we felt we got a real taste of Cyprus, yet still only 10 Min’s from Protaras and Agia Napa, and a short drive from the lovely Agia Thekla beach.
Although a car is not totally necessary we would recommend it to make the most out of your stay. We had a great time and would certainly recommend it to all kinds of holiday makers from couples to families, it has something for everyone. We hope to be back soon. Many Thanks The Halls (July 2011)

Sotira is a lovely quiet and peaceful area the locals are so helpful , call and see Andreas that owns one of the local pubs , he was so friendly and helpful. Plenty of choice in the local Supermarkets
I could not fault the villa in any way , it is kept so well by the villa managers Brian and Shiela, Our pool was cleaned bright and early every morning The Villa really had everything we needed
