They are also perfect for those who enjoy relaxing, wildlife, walking, cycling, touring, golf and even ski-ing at the right time of year!
Peace and tranquillity awaits you at Bluefolds, where you can relax and enjoy the dramatic panoramic views over the Cairngorm National Park mountains. The cottages accommodate between two to eight guests individually and here you can come and relax in this undiscovered corner of Scotland between Dufftown and Tomintoul.
The extremely comfortable holiday cottages are situated within a tastefully restored farmhouse and steading with stunning views across Glenlivet to the Glenlivet distillery, one of many on the Moray Malt Whisky Trail. The cottages: Folds sleeps 2-8 - 3 bedrooms; Glenlivet 2-6 - 3 bedrooms; Dronach 2-6 - 2 bedrooms and Aberlour 2-4- 2 bedrooms. Folds stands by itself while the other 3 cottages are in the modernised steading building.
There are plenty of things to see and do in this wonderful area including: trying whisky nosings and tastings in Dufftown; visiting historic Scottish castles; exploring the idyllic fishing villages and beautiful empty beaches in Moray; meandering along the quiet Moray roads where you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of mountains and hills; take a Puffin Cruise boat from Macduff Harbour to see the birdlife and possibly dolphins; relax on the Cairngorm Mountain Railway and take in the wonderful sights or visit the Lecht Ski Resort near Tomintoul for those who enjoy ski-ing or snow boarding.
You can enjoy a wonderful holiday in the remote wilderness area of the Cairngorm National Park at any time of the year. Whether it be autumn, winter, summer or spring, the scenery is breathtaking and there are plenty of activities and attractions to enjoy.
Ballindalloch Castle with 500 years of history and a stunning garden is a short drive from the cottages as is the Glenlivet distillery which offers free tours and a "wee dram". There are an excellent range of walks on the Glenlivet Estate and throughout the Cairngorms National Park. They vary from scenic walks by the River Livet visiting ruined Drumin Castle home of the "Wolf of Badenoch" to 10 mile walks over moorland and hills or to the top of Ben Rinnes our local Corbett.

Glenlivet in the Cairngorms National Park has much to offer from walking, wildlife, whisky and castles. The Glenlivet distillery offer free tours and "a wee dram" several times a day. There are a range of walks from a short walk by the River Livet, past Drumin castle once home of the Wolf of Badenoch and along the side of a wood. There is a longer walk in the Morinsh Woods or in the Braes of Glenlivet to the 18th century Catholic Seminary at Scalan. There is wildlife all around with Roe deer seen in the fields below the cottage in the early morning and at dusk along with curlew, oystercatchers, kestrels and buzzards not forgetting the red squirrel who comes to collect the hazel nuts from the bird feeder! Ballindalloch Castle a short drive away has 500 years of history and is still lived in today by the Macpherson-Grants. The gardens and grounds of the castle display a wide variety of flowers, shrubs and trees starting with an amazing display of daffodils in April.

Habit-forming view
One of the best self-catering cottages I have ever experienced. Nice, clean and cosy houses. We are coming back each year. It's perfect situated in Grampian Highlands, lots of things to do in the area. The view is one to come back to. Very friendly and lovely owners.
Best trip yet!
Cottage comfy and to us very familiar! Exciting kayaking trips down river Spey. Would really rocommend visit to Spey Bay - nice wildlife centre and good viewing of Dolphins just of the coast. Also Banff and a fabulous trip on the sea in a fast rib boat surrounded by Dolphins! Thanks Steve for recommending this. Thanks also for the whisky nosing.
Our 6th holiday at Folds Cottage
Our 6th holiday at Folds Cottage and the peace and quiet, beautiful scenery and wildlife are as wonderful as ever. Have seen deer, hares and of course the red squirrel in the garden. Lots of golf was played despite the weather. John had a great day playing golf with Steve and Dufftown. Thank you again
So sorry to be going!
Well that's us about to leave, so sorry to be going! We've had a lovely time. Scenery is breathtaking. We have seen some brand new lambs and our frined the eagle 3 days in a row. Steve you are a fountain of local knowledge. Thanks you so much.
What a lovely cottage
When we travel, we don't often say we'd come back, only because there are so many places in the world to see! But we can honestly say we would return to the Highlands and stay at Bluefolds! What a lovely cottage and the most amazing area in Scotland that we have ever seen.
Cosy cottage much needed peace
Despite some challenging weather conditions, 2 days were spent at the Lecht ski resort - great snow. Cosy cottage much needed peace and quiet for the grown ups! Thanks Steve and Elizabeth for your hospitality over the last year. Look forward to catching up in May.
Excellent accommodation
stunning location and fantastic weather. The perfect holiday. Theank you Steve for both the standard of the cottage and your trying to educate us on the finer points of Scotch Whisky. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will hopefully come again. Want to see a Golden Eagle next time!
What a fantastic and too short holiday
What a fantastic and too short holiday we enjoyed! Thanks especially for the whisky tasting and expertise. We are so gland we found your lovely coattage and we hope we can return someday
Thanks Steve
Thanks Steve for your advice, directions and recommendations in your holiday folders. It's been fabulous - sunshine and long hours of it, great walking on Glenlivet Estate - you can't go wrong with the waymarked trails. The landrover tours on the estate with Glenlivet wildlife are excellent. Put the pots and pans away for the week and enjoy great hospitality at the Croft Inn. The Cairngorms might be crawling with BBC crews (Springwatch), but tDogs and a peregrine falcon on holiday at Bluefolds Holiday Cottageshere's just so much wildlife for all to enjoy. I'll miss the waking to the sound of the curlew, being mobbed by oystercatchers and the cuckoo in the woods opposite. If you can drag yourself away from the cottage area - the visitors centre at Culloden is great.
This was our third and final week in Scotland
This was our third and final week in Scotland and our favorite. Steve and Elizabeth were just as gracious and helpful as they seemed during our 2 year email friendship. Our favourite activities were the Dell Glenlivet Clay Pigeon Shooting and Glenlivet Wildlife where you go "off the beaten track" in a landrover with a cup of tea at the top of Cairn Diamh with a 360 degree view - perfect for photos. We will treasure the memories and be back as soon as possible.
Thanks once again for another excellent stay
Thanks once again for another excellent stay. The cottage and the views lived up to our memories and expectiation. We had an excellent week despite the rain and enjoyed revisiting distilleries, beaches and forests (and pubs). I'm sure we will be back for our 6th stay very soon.
Fifth visit to this fantastic holiday cottage
Fifth visit to this fantastic holiday cottage. Every year we find new things to see. Enjoyed watching the squirrel each morning and the pheasants. Had lovely meals the Croft Inn, but mostly enjoyed the peace and quiet and wonderful scenery around Folds Cottage. See you next year.
Great location, brilliant neighbours
Great location, brilliant neighbours and the perfect landlors! Enjoyed our time here. Come back for sure. The worst bit the icy road, but immensily compensated for by the great time had up here. Next time we'll bring the 4x4! We could sit and watch the views all day. We saw seals at Lossiemouth and went sking at Glenshee. We had a great time and Danni our dog tried to eat all the ice!
We had a wonderful time here.
We had a wonderful time here. The landscapes are jut unbelievably stunning. Morning coffee outside - we will miss that most! We will be back for sure. Thank you for a great "welcome pack" and see you soon.
Thank you so much once again for a fantastic stay
Thank you so much once again for a fantastic stay in Dronach. Your hospitality is excellent, so much so that Dronach feels like home, if only for a week. We visted favourites like Findhorn and Lossie with beaches to die for. Our visit to the Cairngorms was beautiful - to see a mountain so close in its snowy, rugged glory was truly memorable. The wild life has been to die for this year; deer on the doorstep and dolphins at Spey Bay. No doubt we will be back for a 6th visit.
This week has been a revelation
Having only driven through this area on route eslewhere, this week has been a revelation. The walking has been wonderful - so many great waymarked routes on the Glenlivet Estate with amazing viewpoints. Too many to fit into a week - we'll have to come back! The cottage has been a really comfortable base and must boast one of the best views in Scotland. We were lucky that Tea in the Park at the Glenlivet hall was on this week as we enjoyed the food on offer.
Thanks for a fantastic stay our 11th visit.
Thanks for a fantastic stay, our 11th visit. The cottage is improved every visit Thank you Elizabeth and Steve, you make this beautiful place a fantastic one.
Lovely comfortable cottage
Lovely comfortable cottage, stunning scenery and the weather was very kind to us as well! Enjoyed visiting distilleries, castles and the coast. One of my highlights was seeing the Dolphins playing in Spey Bay. Hope to come back this way again.
We came for the snow and boy did we get it
We came for the snow and boy did we get it. A brilliant week with lots to do: the reindeer in Glenmore were lovely, the hill walking was great and the skido's were lots of fun. The cottage is lovely and cosy and plenty warm enough even with temperaturess of -16. Thanks for the warm and friendly welcome - will recommend Bluefolds to everybody.
We have spent a very enjoyable week here
We have spent a very enjoyable week here at Bluefolds. The cottage is very cmfortable and evenings with a coal stove were extremely cosy! The fact we were unable to use our moblile phones - no signal - was not a problem!! The peace and tranquility and spectacular views from the cottage are a bonus. Thank you for making our stay such a memorable one.
