Description

Welcome to the ancient and historic Logie Elphinstone House, on a private estate, on the banks of the river Urie, at the foot of Bennachie. Logie House was built in the 1670s near the Royal Burgh of Inverurie, to the west of Aberdeen.

The self contained guest wing is available for holiday letting. Joined to the main house by the tower, with it’s own private entrance from the north lawn, it comfortably sleeps 8-10 in 5 bedrooms.

Inside the property is spacious, warm, modern and very well equipped

Outside is a sheltered, enclosed courtyard, with deep borders of flowers, pots of herbs and vegetables in tubs.

The six acres of lawn, gardens and ancient woodland, make a tranquil place for walking, picnics, fishing and relaxing. The main drive is lined with wild cherry trees and there are apple, plums, gooseberries, redcurrants, raspberries and pears for the taking. There is a trampoline and climbing frame for the children, tame free range chickens and a stable block. The river Urie runs through the garden before joining the Don. It teems with brown trout and is rarely fished.

The garden is frequented by red squirrel, deer, rabbits, heron and buzzards. Woodpeckers feed in the courtyard, owls perch on the tower at night and swallows nest in nearly every south facing upstairs window. Wagtails and swifts nest in the log stores and outhouses. Water vole are being re-introduced to the river and there are otters there already.

The house faces south, has beautiful views over the foothills of Bennachie from the lawn and is about 5 miles from the Royal burgh of Inverurie. There are easy travel links by car from the A96, by air from Aberdeen Airport (18 miles) and by train from Inverurie (5 miles)

Kitchen

Fully fitted oak kitchen with 2 oven range, 5 ring hob, stainless dishwasher, American Fridge freezer and microwave. The dinning table seats 10 on 2 pews. There is a 42” TV in the fireplace with Xbox 360 and DVD player. The outlook is over the courtyard to the south and the lawn to the north.

Utility room

The Utility room houses a washing machine and tumble dryer, plus worktop and cupboards, iron, ironing board and two original Belfast sinks. We supply bedding for dogs.

Lounge

The lounge has a large log burning stove in an original inglenook fireplace and comfy sofas. 42" flat screen TV with Sky+ HD and an IPod stereo.

Master Bedrooms

There are two master bedrooms with king / super king-size beds. Both master bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with showers. Bedding in all 5 bedrooms is duck down and the sheets and towels are white cotton.

Single bedrooms

There are two single bedrooms with metal frame small double beds.

There is one twin bedroom

Master bathroom

The master bathroom has a walk in shower and a large free standing bath (with taps in the centre, so no arguing over who gets what end)

Courtyard

Outside, the courtyard has large gas barbeque, tables, benches and chairs. There are picnic benches on the lawns and island. There is a well equipped gym located in the old game store, off the courtyard and a 7-8 seat Jacuzzi just outside.

Heating is by Log boiler (Stoked by the owner) with back up oil heating (When the owner gets lazy). Logs, linen, oil, electricity, Sky+ is all included. Xbox 360 & Wii with games, DVDs, books.

Gardens and woods

There are gardens, lawns, an orchard and woods. Trampolines, climbing frame, swing, slides, sand pit, paddling pool, toys and games for the kids. There is a tree house and hidden gravestone on the island,

Pool

The 9 meter indoor infinity pool, situated in the main house, is available for guest use

Riding

We have grazing and stabling available for guests and will also be opening an outdoor riding school and cross country course. Please check status with us, prior to booking
